At LFDP, we know that it is essential for each baby to feel loved, protected, and have his/her needs satisfied. Our focus at this age is to provide each baby with individualized care and experiences, which foster his/her growth and development. The trustful relationships built between each baby and our teachers offer him/her the emotional support to participate in shared activities and guide his/her exploration and learning.
Our group times are moments of getting together and sharing smiles and joy. Song singing, nursery rhymes, book reading, finger play, and games are our daily pleasure. No one plays Peek-a-boo better than Mia! Not only do these activities foster each baby’s interest in books and music and his/her communication and listening skills, but they also connect us and strengthen our relationships.
Joined by Mia and our teachers, each baby engages in sensory exploration with various textures, water play, art activities, and manipulation of toys. Learning through his/her senses at this age, these activities enhance each baby’s perception skills, hand-eye coordination, and manipulative abilities, as well as offer him/her new sensations.
Rolling over, pulling up, crawling, and taking first steps are all milestones in each baby’s first months. As we recognize their importance for each baby’s growth and development, we create a safe environment which encourages his/her emerging skills and their practice. Mia’s cheers and handclaps always accompany our rejoicing at each baby’s accomplishments! Outdoor time, including walks in the neighborhood and playground activities, is also a source of movement and perceptual experiences for each baby.
